MSG Carrol S. Pearson

Carrol S. Pearson, 82, unexpectedly and peacefully, went to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at his home in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was born in Wakefield, R.I. Carrol is survived by his loving family: his wife, Dorothy; son, Eric; daughter-in-law, Jeanne; grandchildren, Alex and Olivia; brother and wife, Robert and Lois Pearson; sister, Sonja Kenyon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was buried at South Florida National Cemetery in Lantana. Bill Costantino stated "Carroll was SF qualified, and in the unit almost from the very beginning. He was a quiet professional. He came in with the Westerly Detachment and was very close with Bill McNaughton, Panciera, Cullen, Vocatura, Boucher. He was low key, smart and quiet." And Charlie Knowles reports: "He was... in HHD, 6th Bn, 20th SFG(A) when I joined in '74. I would think he had been a member of Co D. ... Though I did not interact with him considerably, I did appreciate his advice on several occasions. I also recall a time he was chasing me around the old picnic table outside the CAC headquarters at Fogarty when he slipped and sprained his ankle. Not quite sure why the MSG was chasing the 1LT in the first place, but it made for a somewhat humorous lunchtime interlude for the spectators thereto (obviously not for Carroll!!)." His many years of military service included the United States Air Force and RI Army National Guard. He served in D/16th SF Gp, D/19th SF Gp, C/5/20th SF Gp and HHD, 6/20th SF Gp as an 05B and 11F. He earned the parachutist badge and SF Tab. He retired as a Master Sergeant.
