SFC Danilo A. Nunez

Sergeant First Class (R) Danilo Antonio Nunez, Jr. (D-6767) was born on 19Dec53 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. His family immigrated to Providence, RI. He graduated from Classical High School in 1972. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1973 and was discharged in 1979. In 1979 he enlisted in the US Army and successfully completed the Special Forces Qualification Course. He served in A/1/10th SF Gp (Germany), C/1/7th SF Gp (Panama), C/1/ 1st SF Gp (Okinawa) and B/1/7th SF Gp (Fort Bragg). He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, SF Tab, Ranger Tab, and the Scuba Diver Badge. He was a trained SF Medic and Operations & Intelligence Sergeant. He joined the Special Forces Association in 2002.

Following his retirement in 1996, he established Strategic Resource Management a security company providing physical security and management training. He was traveling from Kuwait to Bagdad when he was killed in a vehicle accident on 31 July 2003.

The family contacted Chapter XLVIII and requested that Danilo’s name be added to our Necrology. On 11 November 2003, at the Special Forces monument located at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI, Chapter members formed as a Military Honor Guard conducted a flag folding ceremony, Taps was played and rifle volleys were fired. Chapter President, Charles J. Stallings presented the flag, beret and cartridges to the parents, Danilo and Emma Nunez and his son, Jamisson Todd Nunez. Danilo’s siblings were also in attendance.
