SSG George A. Fenley, Jr.


Sergeant George A. Fenley, Jr. was born on 28 February 1918. He served in the US Army during World War II from 1941 thru 1945. He enlisted in Company A, 16th Special Forces Group (Airborne) West Virginia Army National Guard on 9 March 1963. He had mastered several foreign languages during and after the war and was enlisted as a Foreign Language Specialist. He successfully completed the Basic Airborne Course conducted at Fort Benning on 8Jun63 and earned the Parachutist Badge. He was discharged from CoA, 16SFG on 1Sep64. He employed his superior language skill during a distinguished academic career. He died on 11 Aug 2002 in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines. His name was added to our Roll Call of Remembrance at the request of his son and Chapter Member George A. Fenley III (M8258-L).
