MSG Jerome “Jerry” Ellis


Master Sergeant Jerome “Jerry” Ellis was born on 25 January 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama. He enlisted in the United States Army on 6 July 1961. He served in Germany, Vietnam and the US. His last Active Duty assignment was at the Providence, RI Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station. He separated form Active Duty on 10 October 1973. He enlisted in Company A, 2nd Bn, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) RI Army National Guard on 16 October 1973. Jerry served as the fulltime Administrative NCO for Company A in his capacity as a Civil Service Military Technician. His military assignment was as an 11F5S. He was Special Forces qualified and he was a Master Parachutist. In January 1983, he left his fulltime position to accept a position with the Veterans Administration in Albany, NY. He transferred to the Retired Reserve on 27 April 1984. He was later assigned to the Boston, MA VA office. He reportedly died of cardiac arrest on 20 July 1996 in Massachusetts. He is buried at GW Carver Memorial Gardens, Birmingham, AL
